Description:

Reporting to the District Sales Manager, the Merchandiser will support regional sales teams (Northern Alberta; Edmonton) to grow Sleeman Breweries' portfolio presence within the trade. Please note that this is a six-month contract role.

Responsibilities

  • Merchandise product, stocking products on shelves in warm section, coolers, cold vault, floor displays, and racks
  • Rotate product and ensure the freshness codes of products are checked
  • Install point of sale material (POS) to support promotions or product launches, ensuring product and promotional/point of sale materials are visible and accessible
  • Support the regional sales team to reach established sales targets by ensuring execution requirements negotiated by the Sales Representative or Key Account teams are applied at the store level
  • Support Sales Representative in attaining more space allotment and product visibility/accessibility by persuading customers with sales or execution comparisons based on knowledge of other regional stores, informing customers of "best practices", demonstrating "A" type execution, and various other techniques
  • Establish business relationships with customers and regularly follow up to ensure on-going satisfaction with products and services. Provide back-up support to Sales Representatives (e.g., selling, negotiation) in their absence or as requested by manager
  • Participate in team meetings and share customer feedback, potential business opportunities and detailed local market intelligence with Sales team, as required
  • Remain apprised of industry trends and changes to the competitive environment
  • Communicate with key resources in-store
  • Assist sales team in mass communication to stores via phone, email or in person to deliver essential information to accounts
  • Perform other related duties as required


Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year customer service experience in a retail sales environment
  • Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent
  • Strong customer service skills and experience
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships, internal and external to the organization
  • Effective communication, both written and verbal; strong presentation skills
  • Computer skills with ability to use Microsoft Office
  • Beverage alcohol industry experience is an asset
  • Valid driver's license and able to provide own transportation
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviours compatible with organizational values


Working Conditions

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
  • Spends majority of time working in field
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
