What you'll do

As a Merchandise Planner, you will maximize bottom-line profitability and efficiencies through the development and execution of achievable merchandise financial plans. You will establish ownership of the financial plans and provide accurate and timely information to the Merchandising group. The ability to forecast within a selling season, using building blocks to capitalize on areas of opportunity and/or risk is paramount.

  • Data driven Analysis, Forecasting & Budgeting will play an integrated role in assisting with the monthly, quarterly and annual forecasting and budgeting processes. The role will regularly collaborate and interact with the stakeholders across the organization.

  • Consulting with the entire Strategic Business Unit (SBU) to ensure a complete understanding of the overall strategy going forward to align with financial targets.

  • Development of accurate, optimal and achievable pre-season Financial & Merchandise plans for seasonal and long-life cycle merchandise.

  • Lead weekly meetings with the SBU team to review in-season forecasts of sales, markdowns, receipts and gross margin. As a collaborative problem solver, make appropriate recommendations and follow up on action plans.

  • Constantly monitor the Open to Buy (OTB) status and approve Purchase Orders based on available funds and timely delivery of all merchandise within your area of responsibility.


What you bring

  • A business degree at the graduate or undergraduate level

  • 1-3 years of retail experience is an asset

  • Strong PC skills, including PowerPoint and Excel (modelling using Excel)

  • Knowledge of Retail Mathematics, Inventory Management and Financial Accounting

  • Strong presentation and written skills, with attention to detail

  • Demonstrate "common sense" approach to problem solving and analysis

  • Proven interpersonal skills with peers and management

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work & meet deadlines in a dynamic environment

  • Passion for Sports and an Active Lifestyle
