Retail Operations, encompassing the three retail business units of Merchandising, Marketing and Store Operations, is responsible for the strategic direction and operations of the 198 BCLIQUOR Stores. The Retail division develops and executes key strategies to drive business/revenue, creates systems and processes to maximize operational excellence, while upholding BCLDB's core values of service, relationships, and results. About this role:

This position functions in an empowered, dynamic environment where they are accountable in the Merchandising Department for the process and implementation of clusters, assortment roll-outs, planograms, renovations, right-sizings and resets. This role is a proactive lead in strategic decisions regarding merchandising efforts across all of BCLiquor. The Senior Manager makes decisions and leads activities that span across multiple retail business units, internal, and external stakeholders. The expectations of this role require the incumbent to excel under pressure, professionally, and with great autonomy.

Reporting to the Director of Merchandising, this position is the lead contact with real estate, vendors, suppliers and industry for optimal space planning and in store merchandising of all products. Candidates should be able to work in a fast paced environment with high pressure, tight deadlines and changing priorities. Candidates must have the ability to travel overnight within the Province of British Columbia.

Position Requirements:

Education and Experience:

A degree, diploma or a certificate in category management, merchandising, marketing or a related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of recent, related experience*.

OR

Secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent certificate with a minimum of 7 years of recent, related experience*.

*Recent, related experience must have occurred within the last 8 years and must include the following:

  • Experience in a senior level role overseeing or developing merchandising plans or trade marketing initiatives at a corporate level.
  • Experience with overseeing the creation and execution of merchandising strategies, including space allocation, product placement, and promotional displays across multiple retail locations.
  • Experience leading and directing the work of staff, establishing priorities, allocating, and managing human and fiscal resources.

Preference may be given to candidates with related experience in the beverage alcohol industry.
