Shaping Home Hardware's Story
As the Communications Manager, you will lead the execution of Home Hardware's internal and external communications initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and brand identity. The role plays a critical part in driving a proactive, day-to-day communications agenda that supports operational priorities, while also contributing to the planning and execution of strategic initiatives and enterprise-wide events. Led by the Director, Communications, this role brings communications strategy to life by overseeing content development, managing multi-channel messaging, and leading a team of communications and creative professionals.

Execute comprehensive internal and external communications plans that align with organizational objectives, supporting the Director, Communications in the execution of the organizational communication strategy.
Oversee the creation of compelling content that reflects Home Hardware's brand voice and values, ensuring messaging resonates with Dealers, Team Members, and customers.
Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Communications team, providing clear direction, coaching, and support to deliver high-impact communications.
Delegate and assign responsibilities to the team for the implementation of the communications plans and provide advice to ensure best-in-class results.
Develop effective processes and guidelines to support content delivery and ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment in messaging across all audiences, including Team Members, Dealers, Business Partners, Suppliers, Media, and Consumers.
Collaborate closely with the Public Relations team to ensure alignment in messaging and reputation management efforts.
Support crisis communications in collaboration with the Director, Communications and Public Relations, ensuring timely, accurate, and aligned messaging during sensitive or high-impact situations.
Manage the production of live and virtual events such as Regional Dealer Meetings and Market from script/speech development to video product.
Act as a creative leader by guiding visual and narrative storytelling across communications channels, ensuring brand consistency and innovation.
Provide communications support and guidance for special projects including corporate campaigns, HR initiatives, and enterprise-wide events.
Monitor, measure and report on success of current communication efforts.
Create and monitor budget for the Department, exercising sound fiscal management to control expenses and generate revenue, including approval of all Departmental expenses.
We're looking for:
College Diploma in Communications, Marketing or Business.
Ten years' experience in Communications, with a minimum of five years in a leadership capacity.
Strong understanding of brand voice and retail-first communications, with the ability to create messaging that resonates with Dealers, Team Members, and customers.
Ability to produce quality work in an incredibly fast paced, high volume and high impact environment, balancing many projects at once with tight deadlines and production schedules.
Strategic communications experience with strong knowledge of communications principles and practices.
Experience overseeing design projects and video communications, with an eye for creative quality and consistency across formats.
Strong writing and editing skills across various formats and channels, with the ability to translate complex information into engaging content. Meticulous attention to detail, with an eye for grammar and consistency.
Results orientated with excellent organization and project management skills, while effectively handling changing priorities. Strategic thinker with a hands-on, solution-oriented mindset.
Proven ability to operate in ambiguous situations and build structure where limited guidelines exist; comfortable developing communications plans from the ground up based on business needs and sound judgment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), and experience with design and video production tools is an asset.
Bilingual (French/English) is an asset.
The ability to be onsite three days a week at our corporate office in St. Jacobs, to accommodate our hybrid working model.
