Shaping Home Hardware's Story
As the Term Communications Specialist, you will coordinate and assist with the execution of an internal and external, operational and strategic corporate communications program. In this role, you will work alongside our team to protect and enhance Home's reputation through effective communications and integrated storytelling. Led by the Assistant Manager, Communications, this opportunity will suit someone that is creative and organized, with solid strategic communications planning skills and exceptional writing skills.

Please note this is a 20-month term role.
Ready to make an impact in a new role? Here's how:
  • Writing, editing, proofing, and developing content for the execution of the overall internal and external, operational and strategic communications plans for Home Homeware Stores Limited across a variety of media platforms.
  • Coordinate Dealer/Field Team emails on behalf of Home Hardware Stores Limited departments. Create/adapt/triage/deploy email communications in a consistent and deliberate manner, monitoring and governing email content and deployment.
  • Provide project support for promotion and execution of new and updated company initiatives: planning, coordinating, communicating, and executing the various components of a communication plan.
  • Create workback schedules and timelines to ensure communication projects stay on schedule.
  • Create daily, weekly, monthly Dealer communications, in both English and French.
  • Maintain and monitor project plans, project schedules.
  • Develop and write processes, templates, and technical guides, and maintain all project documentation.
  • Ensure project deadlines are met. Assess project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable.
  • Coordinate and write PowerPoint presentations with subject matter experts.
  • Assist with the editing, creation, formatting of documents.
  • Support the production of live and virtual events, such as Regional Dealer Meetings and Market from script/speech development to video production.
  • Preparing for and assisting at Markets, trade shows, charitable activities and other organized sponsorship and media events.
We're looking for:
  • College Diploma in Communications, Marketing or Business, with three to five years' experience in a Communications focused role.
  • Experience in analyzing and governing external and internal, operational, and strategic communications.
  • Exceptional writing skills, with a proactive approach to strategic and operational communication.
  • Ability to produce quality work in an incredibly fast paced, high volume and high impact environment.
  • Project Management skills, with the ability to balance many projects at once with tight deadlines and production, schedule accordingly to meet changing deadlines, and communicate changes effectively to appropriate Team members.
  • Excellent oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of approval processes and demonstrated ability to deal with highly confidential information.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to deal with routine problems and issues based on policy, precedent, and sound reasoning.
  • Understands and responds to creative feedback well and are accommodating to multiple rounds of edits and approvals.
  • Passion, creativity, positivity, diligence, self-motivation, ability to work in teams and as an individual.
  • Proficient use of Excel, Word, Power point and Outlook.
  • Bilingual French speaking is an asset.
  • Willingness to work extended hours when required.
  • The ability to be onsite three days a week at our corporate office in St. Jacobs, to accommodate our hybrid working model.
