Executing Category Strategies and Building a Competitive Advantage
As a Merchandise Manager, you will support our Merchandising Teams by leading the development, communication, and execution of category strategies to drive business success. You will manage the product assortment, sales, inventory, margins, and supplier relationships within an assigned category, to deliver on established annual financial plans. Your valuable category information will help support Home Dealers. Led by the Director, Merchandise this opportunity suits someone with strong leadership and expertise in category management.
Ready to make an impact in a new role? Here's how:
  • Lead the development, communication, and execution of category strategies in collaboration with the Merchandise Director and cross functional teams.
  • Deliver financial metrics assigned to the category including POS, shipments, margin, and other business metrics including but not limited to inventory metrics in conjunction with Supply Chain.
  • Develop and maintain a productive and profitable national brand and private label assortment in the Dealer Support Centre and through direct to store channels.
  • Build competitive advantage for HHSL using expert category knowledge acquired through industry experience, trade shows, store visits, and supplier interactions both domestically and internationally.
  • Negotiate and build strong relationships with key suppliers to support corporate initiatives.
  • Develop and execute successful promotions and support marketing initiatives.
  • Effectively lead, coach, and develop a team of associates including Assistant Merchandise Managers and Merchandise Analysts.
  • Support Home Dealers with timely, accurate and valuable category information.
We're looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Merchandising, with 3-5 years of category management experience is preferred.
  • High energy with an entrepreneurial attitude.
  • Excellent communication, planning, organizational, analytical, and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and embraces technology and uses it as a competitive advantage.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to manage, motivate and direct a team.
  • Willingness to work ongoing extended hours and travel as needed.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • The ability to be onsite three days a week at our corporate office in St. Jacobs, to accommodate our hybrid working model.
