Position Summary

Reporting to the Supervisor of Recreation Facilities, the Marina Cashier efficiently carries out the day-to-day requirements for the orderly administration of Confederation Basin Marina/Portsmouth Olympic Harbour Marina Offices.

This position is responsible to:

Welcome public in a friendly, courteous manner and provide directions upon request

Operate the facility booking system, point of sale equipment and answer phones

Perform payment transactions, complete daily revenue reports and other administrative records

Complete bank deposits and be accountable for daily cash receipts

Maintain accurate records of all boats in the Marina

Clean the marina office on a daily basis

Compile statistical information related to the marina operations

Coordinate available slips with Dockhands and others on the team

Allocate slips according to boat size and general awareness of boaters' needs

Produce shift-end reports

Comply with the Occupational health and Safety Act (OHSA) as well as the Corporation of the City of Kingston's Health and Safety Program

Other duties as assigned

Must be available to start work as of April 26, 2025

Hours of operation are 7:00am - 10:00pm, Sunday - Saturday, including holidays

Must be available to work rotating shifts, days, afternoon, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Qualifications, Competencies

MUST BE ENROLLED IN AND RETURNING TO FULL-TIME SECONDARY OR POST SECONDARY STUDIES IN FALL OF 2025 - Verification will be required

Must by 16 years of age by April 26, 2025

Preferred candidates will have experience handling cash and knowledge of various point of sale systems and computer software (Word, Excel, etc.)

Must have current Standard First Aid/CPR with Automated External Defibrillator certification or be willing to obtain this certification at the candidate's own expense prior to starting in the role

Valid Class "G2" or "G" Driver's Licence is considered an asset

Pleasure Craft Operator Card; Marine Personnel Training; and Restricted Operator Certificate - Maritime is considered an asset

VHF Radio licence is preferred

Bilingualism (English and French) is preferred; additional languages an asset

Strong customer service skills

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel

Judgement and discretion when dealing with confidential information

Ability to follow instructions and perform assigned duties with limited direct supervision

Excellent interpersonal skills

Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check at candidate's own expense
