Position Summary...
Reporting to the Carrier Relations, Assets & Sourcing Manager, the Manager, Carrier Relations is responsible for the management of the 60+ Wal-Mart Canada contracted carriers. Total Carrier Management - with over $500 million in spend and almost 1 million deliveries a year, the manager is responsible for identifying, prospecting, sourcing, contracting a well rounded, cost effective carrier base with a high level of service based on the business needs for Walmart Canada. Building and maintaining carrier partnerships with senior management.
Monitor carrier compliance including cost certainty, level of service, safety, sustainability, claims, freight program support & carrier EDI, by publishing a carrier scorecard and reviewing with the contracted carrier base.
Work with internal compliance team to ensure carrier adherence to our anti-corruption program and provide requested documentation for audits.
Weekly engagement meetings with the top 5 carriers management teams and monthly business reviews with entire carrier base.
Negotiate with the carrier base senior management on new inbound and outbound lanes and opportunities via phone, face-to-face or team scenarios.
Carrier third party payment system relationship management and development with new opportunities through reporting, systems changes and implementations or conflict resolution.
Project management representation at the store support center on behalf the transportation team in regards to carrier strategy as part of intra department triad meetings. Support Strategic Transportation Department Projects and Objectives, including DLT Blockchain and FourKites
In conjunction with Regional Directors develop strategies for service level improvements through carrier scorecarding, trend analysis and market opportunities.
