What you'll do
It's safe to say, there's no shortage of variety in what we do. Here are some key accountabilities of the role:

  • Responsible for accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and analytical support pertaining to occupancy costs and supports key stakeholders including Financial Reporting, Planning & Analysis, and Lease Administration. This position plays a lead role in interpreting complex business issues, recommending, identifying solutions, and executing specialized projects.
  • Collaborates with the FP&A team in the creation of budgets for non-contract Maintenance accounts and the maintenance portion of the project and pre-opening budgets by providing Finance with recommendations for budget changes.
  • Prepares and assists with managing budgets for long-term capital Maintenance equipment retrofit projects; and in addition, creating the ROI and IRR analysis to acquire senior management approval on individual projects.
  • Oversees all pricing or invoice issues, which includes the pricing for extra work, price adjustments for unsatisfactory work by the vendor and invoice formatting, reconciliation, and review of vendor statements. Ensures payments are issued on time and collaborates with Maintenance account managers to resolve vendor pricing disputes.
  • Creates monthly and year-end accruals and provides a monthly review of Maintenance accounts in financials for accuracy and completeness and provides business reasons for any variances to the rolling plan, original budget, and prior year actuals.
  • Conducts analysis of maintenance expenses by reconciling expenses to original expense budgets, assessing year-over-year trends in expenses, and identifying efficiencies and expense management improvements.
  • Assists with all Maintenance RFPs and final vendor selection by providing vendor recommendations based on analysis of vendors, pricing, and service.
  • Responsible for maintaining and ensuring the completeness of all SOX audit requirements for the department.
  • Partners with various project leads to provide ad-hoc analysis and project support for special projects, business cases, and other Maintenance financial needs as required.
  • Acts as the main contact for finance-related inquiries (internal and external) and assists with process clarifications and Maintenance of finance-related issues.
  • Provides functional financial advice, guidance, and training to other Maintenance team members.
  • Develops trusting partnerships with business units to influence decision-making.

What you'll need
To begin your career with us, we require the following:

  • Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, analysis, and modeling.
  • Post-secondary education in Finance & Accounting, Business &Economics; working towards a professional finance designation (CPA, CGA/CMA) is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of general accepted accounting procedures (GAAP), ability to identify assets, liabilities, income statement accounts, debits, credits; advanced analytical and accounting skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills including advanced data manipulation (Microsoft Excel) skills, knowledge of accounting or ERP software, and experience with budgeting tools (E.g. TM1, IBM Cognos); experience utilizing data visualization tools (Power Bi, Tableau) is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles is considered an asset.
  • Issue management skills including time management, interpersonal skills, conflict management, information gathering, decision making, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet fixed deadlines.
  • Knowledge of corporate facilities and property maintenance an asset.

Salary Range: $74,753 - $104,654 /year*

*This represents the expected hiring range and may not represent the full pay range for the position. The salary offered may be higher than the posted range depending on several factors such as relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
