Position Summary...

The Senior Manager, Controllership is responsible for the completeness and accuracy of the Balance Sheet, P&L and Working Capital activities related to function assigned. They partner with Commercial Finance, Enterprise Business Services (EBS) and business partners to ensure financial statement accuracy and an efficient control environment is maintained in accordance with company policies and US GAAP. The position will continuously identify, recommend and implement process improvements and support the accounting requirements for new and existing business initiatives.

What you'll do...

1.Manage the completeness, accuracy and existence of all P&L, Balance Sheet and Working Capital transactions within function assigned. This includes all month-end close processes associated with these transactions, ensuring they are recorded in accordance with US GAAP requirements by working cross functionally across Finance, EBS and business partners.

2.Build relationships and partner with business stakeholders to review key financial information in order to drive awareness and understanding of financial impacts of business actions in order to facilitate operational decision making. Develop, implement, and evaluate metrics to analyze variances and trends; communicate results including opportunities for performance improvement and innovation; and preparation of reporting for finance and business areas.

3.Lead financial analysis and consultation on ad hoc projects, highlighting risks, opportunities and financial reporting requirements for new business initiatives. Partner with business customers to ensure accounting for ongoing business initiatives are in compliance with US GAAP standards and provide financial analysis to support the business.

4.Lead interactions with the EBS to ensure ongoing system and process enhancements result in accurate, timely and appropriate accounting and GAAP compliance and an improved control environment.

5.Ensures reporting compliance by developing, communicating, and ensuring consistent application of Walmart policies, rules, and regulations; reviewing, evaluating, and interpreting internal financial statements and supporting documentation for compliance with accounting and reporting regulations and ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

6.Have an in depth understanding of end to end system, process and accounting for function assigned in order to manage the research and analysis of issues within role scope. Highlight and remediate issues and bring forward resolution plans to senior leadership

7.Supports and drives the execution of global and local continuous process improvement and efficiency plans, company strategic objectives and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning.

8.Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy.

Qualifications

  • University degree is required
  • minimum level of work experience required for this role: 5-7 years
  • minimum level of supervisory/management experience required for this role: 1-3 years
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)
