Position Summary...

The Senior Manager, Development, Disruption Mitigation will lead our cross-functional company effort to reduce disruption during remodel programs, and identify improvements to our current ways of working. This is a new, critical function to ensure we identify the causes of disruption and reduce it, to strengthen our overall Canadian business performance and make our store experience better for both associates and customers during our major store capital projects. The successful candidate will report into the Sr. Director, Portfolio Management (Remodels & Store Capital Investment). This is a high impact role with significant opportunities for development, growth and advancement within the Walmart organization.

What you'll do...

  • Take the central lead role to help mitigate and reduce overall sales/GP disruption being experienced as a result of major store capital projects.
  • Build a strategic framework to investigate root causes of remodel disruption; build an approach and roadmap to test & validate hypotheses.
  • Partner with multiple stakeholders across the business; present findings and recommended actions based on learnings & insights.
  • Lead meeting forums supporting disruption reduction workstreams with a wide range of partners; track & manage key milestones/actions and force urgency and accountability with stakeholders.
  • Utilize standard processes, tools and templates along with project management tactics to manage and control activities; proactively keep all relevant stakeholders informed on progress and risks.
  • Frequently review dashboards & analytics to surface risks & dependencies; elevate issues to leadership as required.
  • Ensure that process improvements & solutions are embedded in ways of working; ensure we can stay on top of improvements in a sustainable manner. Partner with SDM peers as needed in support of successful execution of complex projects.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Minimum experience required: 5 to 7 years; previous experience in a leadership role in Walmart Operations, Merch Ops, or Supply Chain considered a major asset
  • People leadership experience
  • Preferred educational background in a quantitative discipline
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills (incl. facilitation in remote/virtual models and out in retail field environments)
  • Ability to quickly build credibility and influence up and down the organization, across multiple departments and at various stages of project lifecycles
  • Ability to articulate crisp, executive-friendly messaging by distilling complex issues and data
  • Experience with performance reporting/analytics
  • Understanding of the format development / real estate project lifecycle
