Position Summary...

The Senior Development Manager will lead a cross-functional team to ensure the execution of our Remodel program. The role is responsible for the end-to-end execution of our remodel projects, from developing the business strategy that drives each project, through to creating business cases, all the way through to a successful Grand Opening. This is a high impact role with significant opportunities for development, growth and advancement within the Walmart organization.

What you'll do...

1. Establish the strategic objectives for each remodel project, coordinate the creation of the overall project budget and ROI based on the desired plans across all business areas and obtaining approvals by the Executive team.


2. Lead internal meetings including core and extended internal business partners, and ensure their needs are met and incorporated in the strategic objectives of the project.


3. Utilize standard processes, tools and templates to manage and control projects (clear project scope, project plan, change control, coordination across functions, etc.). Track and manage key project milestones to ensure timely delivery by creating store specific project schedules and ensuring regular and accurate updates and escalation of risks from inception to mobilization on-site where the role shifts to support through to GO and post audit.


4. Review for conflicts and dependencies, surface risks, and elevate issues to executive sponsor for resolution.


5. Collaborate with internal multi-disciplinary teams in the resolution of issues related to project delivery, making technical and monetary trade off decisions where required to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery with a good customer experience.


6. Proactively keep all relevant stakeholders informed on progress and risks, ensure critical tasks are understood by necessary business leaders and escalate risks early.


7. Ensure post audit findings are embedded in future project planning and lead the ongoing process improvement.

8. Ensure accurate documentation and rigor in maintenance of format development artifacts, files, historical context.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum education required: Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative discipline (Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Technology, or related fields)
  • Minimum experience required: 5 to 7 years; previous retail and/or real estate development experience considered an asset
  • People leadership experience (preferred)
  • Strong communication skills (incl. facilitation in remote/virtual models, ability to communicate with PPT)
  • Ability to articulate crisp, executive-friendly messaging by distilling complex issues and data
  • Experience with portfolio management of large-scale programs (interdependency mgmt., project health tracking, enterprise risk mgmt., financial investment tracking i.e. Capex/Opex; etc.)
  • Experience building & validating business cases
  • Experience driving adoption of new digital ways of working in large organizations (e.g. new project management / collaboration tools)
  • Extensive experience with project management and reporting/analytics
  • Ability to quickly build credibility and influence senior stakeholders
  • Independent self-starter; owner's mindset
  • Thrives in a fast-moving environment
