As the National Workers Compensation Specialist, you will be responsible for effectively leading occupational injury claims management across all corporate functions and departments on a national scope. Led by the Director, Health & Safety, this position will best suit an analytical problem solver who excels at managing multiple priorities and is committed to delivering effective solutions.

  • Complete all required provincial forms (i.e., - Form 7) and documentation.
  • Collect and assess data, assembling and reviewing scorecards on a regular basis with the Health and Safety Team, HR and on occasion with third party claim support.
  • Analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), identify trends, and recommend solutions to improve areas of opportunity.
  • Provide leadership support to the field Health and Safety Team with respect to all occupational claims-related matters.
  • Coordinate case management activities including developing, implementing, and monitoring return-to-work and rehabilitation strategies.
  • Manage the return-to-work process, including live return-to-work meetings, identifying suitable work, and facilitating offers of modified duties and/or accommodations.
  • Educate locations on the benefits of maintaining modified work, and consolidation of required paperwork.
  • Identify and submit written objections and correspondence for cost and/or entitlement recovery, reduction, transfers and more, including working with third parties on complex claims management.
  • Liaise with Team Members, Supervisors, Provincial Workers' Compensation Boards, and Managers to gather applicable documentation.
We're looking for:
  • A diploma or degree in a regulated health profession, such as Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Kinesiology, etc. A Certified Disability Management or Paralegal designation is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of working experience with Provincial Insurance Boards, leading claims management.
  • A strong understanding of WCB/WSIB workers' compensation policy, process, and legislation nationally.
  • Previous experience with WCB/WSIB appeals.
  • Analytical and time-management abilities to prioritize competing demands.
  • Proven ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain strong, positive relationships.
  • Strong adaptability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving work environment.
  • Analytical and a problem solver, with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • The ability to be onsite 5 days a week at our corporate office in St. Jacobs, to accommodate the needs of the role.
