The Consultant, Total Rewards leads the ongoing research and development of creative and effective Compensation, Benefit and Pension plans. This role is engaged in following the competitive business landscape as it relates to Total Rewards and the evolving provincial and federal government legislation impacting rewards at Holt Renfrew. This role works closely with the senior Total Rewards leaders to respond to internal and external pressures with solutions and ideas that align to the company's strategic goals and cultural mandate.

What you'll do:

  • Partner with the Director, Total Rewards to develop and execute complex cross-functional strategies to address opportunities and issues in the areas of Total Rewards. Includes:

  • Demonstrating thought-partnering

  • Ensuring solutions are based on strong analytics and insights

  • Creating compelling content and recommendations

  • As a specialized internal consultant, you monitor external trends in Total Rewards and regularly bring that information forward for the purposes of compensation plan review and redesign in alignment with business objectives.

  • Lead the annual review of compensation plans, ensuring that programs are competitive and support organizational strategy.

  • Partner with the Talent function to ensure seamless delivery of the Annual Performance and Compensation Cycle

  • Lead a nation-wide learning and education drive with ongoing digital touch points to reinforce employees’ understanding of their total rewards plans and systems (e.g., Varicent) and the value they offer.

  • Provide direction and act as first level support to the HR partners

  • Provide informal mentorship to junior team members

  • Monitor trends in Group Health and Benefits programs to ensure competitiveness, cost-effectiveness, and employee adoption

  • Coordinate with outsourced providers to ensure exceptional delivery of customer service and continuous improvement of services

  • Complies with all Health & Safety policies and requirements

  • Take a lead role in ensuring that department objectives and initiatives are completed

  • Act as a leader, modeling and supporting the team through coaching the corporate core values; communicating company guidelines, practices and procedures and ensuring compliance

  • Assist in employee development through coaching and following up on the development of their team’s technical competencies

  • Continuously monitor, recommend and implement process improvement initiatives to increases effectiveness and productivity of department

  • Manage service levels by organizing, distributing, monitoring work flow and setting priorities to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity as guided by corporate policies, procedures and business plans

  • Work closely with internal customers and external vendors

  • Various other duties as required

  • Complies with all Health & Safety policies and requirements

What you bring:

  • 3 to 5 years of Compensation, Pension & Benefits experience in multiple jurisdictions

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree/certificate from an accredited educational institution in a relatable field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

  • Certifications in business analysis, quality assurance analysis, process analysis and/or organizational change management are considered assets

  • Proven leadership experience (teams or projects)

  • Proven record of success with leading process improvement and automation initiatives

  • Proven customer relations experience

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Flexibility to work independently or collaborate with a team

  • Proficient with MS-Office software, with high proficiency with Microsoft Excel

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Experience with multiple HRIS systems (Workday, SAP, PeopleSoft) an asset
