ABOUT THE ROLE:

As the Director, HR Business Partner - Retail Stores, you will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies that align with our strategic initiatives, enhance the overall employee experience and position Sephora as an employer of choice. This role partners with retail leadership to align HR strategies with business objectives, fostering a culture of performance, growth, and employee engagement. You will lead the Field HR and Talent Acquisition teams, playing a crucial role in nurturing a high-performance culture rooted in Sephora's values and talent. This role will oversee employee relations, and organizational change initiatives across a multi-site retail environment with about 130 stores. The position reports to the Vice President, Human Resources, and manages a team of HRPBs and a TA Partner.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Culture, Engagement & Retention:

  • Act as a strategic thought partner to SVP of Retail and Regional Directors by helping to identify areas of opportunity to drive culture, engagement & retention through efficient and effective HR processes
  • Cultivate strong relationships with field leaders, offering guidance on policies, procedures, and people practices, while jointly implementing initiatives to enhance our culture and drive the business
  • Gather data, analyze trends, and provide insights and/or recommendations to help guide and influence assigned client groups in their decision making
  • Partner with Retail Talent Development team to support initiatives that drive engagement, development, and retention
  • Support HRBP team participation in cross-functional projects where HR collaborates with Field and FSC subject matter experts to create programs that align with department and company goals
  • Manage and develop a remote team of HR Business Partners by identifying, delegating, and prioritizing workload to drive the execution of company and department initiatives


Talent Acquisition:

  • Lead and shape a best-in-class Talent Acquisition team and strategy that attracts diverse, high performing talent for stores
  • Partner with senior leadership by serving as an advisor for key leadership hires and talent needs within the business
  • Champion diversity and culture in the hiring process, including job descriptions, training for hiring managers, interview process consistency & candidate experience, leading to measurable improvement in the availability and selection of diverse candidates
  • Utilize data and analytics, defining metrics and KPIs to illustrate recruiting ROI and business impact


Annual Processes:

  • Support the annual performance appraisal cycle, salary planning, and succession planning for retail leadership
  • Partner with retail Talent Development on developmental needs for select employee groups and support solutions as needed
  • Lead the execution of initiatives linked to Sephora's Listening strategy, including engagement surveys and action planning, Onboarding and Offboarding feedback, and ad hoc feedback
  • Oversee annual reporting on talent KPIs
  • Lead the talent analytics and organizational management review processes to collect and submit information in addition to understanding key drivers of people trends and monitoring risk
  • Impact engagement, retention and create opportunities for growth by partnering with FSC and Field Leadership to modernize programs in areas of training, development, and talent management
  • Advise and partner cross-functionally to provide programming or training solutions to meet Sephora's needs


Organizational Structure:

  • Consult with Functional leaders on strategy, organizational structure, performance, and succession planning
  • Support the VP HR and SVP Retail in organizational design and annual headcount planning


Governance & Compliance:

  • Act as a trusted advisor on complex employee relations issues, ensuring alignment with company policies and legal compliance
  • Review current HR Processes with HRBP team to evaluate relevance, effectiveness, and impact. Challenge and guide team to continuously innovate HR processes
  • Seek to understand the evolution of the retail industry and offer innovative solutions to continuously improve the talent and culture strategies, and challenge the status quo
  • Guide and mitigate Employee Relations escalations
  • Partner and work in close relationship with the US HR team


Leadership:

  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to Sephora's Executive Leaders, providing expertise in performance management, change management and coaching
  • Partner cross functionally, consult the business and provide subject matter expertise in areas that impact HR and Talent management
  • Build and lead a high-performing team, providing mentorship and guidance to team members
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • 10+ years of progressive HRBP experience, highly preferred HR experience supporting a field, multi-location organization along with 5+ years' experience in a management level role
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience leading and managing a team of HRBP professionals or others in a similar role
  • Substantial experience providing strategic business facing Human Resources consultation
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal communication and presentation skills, including influencing and ability to encourage innovation
  • Ability to operate in a matrix environment and effectively manage multiple stakeholders
  • Proven success working with executive-level partners and demonstrated success operating at a strategic level
  • Strong planning and problem-solving skills, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Skillful at building relationships and navigating a broad network of stakeholders across many functions
  • Retail or consumer goods experience a plus
  • Up to 40% travel, as required
