The Financial Analyst, Fixed Assets will use their knowledge and experience in financial reporting, financial analyses, accounting issues and audits to be responsible for the overall integrity and timely preparation of financial results, associated analytics and disclosures related to fixed asset.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

• Record all capital transactions such as creation of new assets, depreciation, disposals, etc. and ensure that all transactions adhere to internal Capex policy and IFRS standards
• Maintain the Fixed Asset subledger in SAP for all legal entities
• Responsible for fixed-asset related month-end and year-end closing procedures such as journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and continuity schedules
• Partner with key stakeholders cross-functionally (i.e. management and executives) to advise and educate on IFRS capitalization rules related to new projects
• Lead monthly asset review process by preparing relevant reports and sharing variances with senior management
• Responsible for IFRS 16 application which encompasses reviewing lease documentation, evaluating appropriate accounting treatment of each lease, calculating right of use assets and liabilities, preparing financial statement note disclosures and accounting memos
• Write IFRS accounting memos to support capitalization decisions of significant projects and present conclusions to senior management (SLT)
• Write and maintain business process documentation for execution of daily, monthly and annual activities
• Act as liaison with external auditors as required during the financial statement audit
• Prepare operational reports to assist management in evaluating results and/or opportunities
• Assist in the development of new processes, systems and models to support the capitalization activities of the company; maintain a continuous improvement mindset
• Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the team by performing other duties as required
• Complies with all Health & Safety policies and requirements
• Ensure compliance with privacy policies, regulations, and cyber security measures

The ideal candidate:

• Post-secondary degree in Finance or Accounting
• Professional Accounting Designation (CPA or equivalent)
• 4+ years of relevant financial accounting and reporting experience
• Experience with SAP and Cognos is an asset
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and customer service skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills; a team player who is able to act as both a leader and an individual contributor as required
• Confident and effective communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
