Manager, Alterations

The Manager, Alterations delivers and leads the delivery of technical and service related excellence within the department while maintaining a smoothly running operation.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Pin/mark and complete alterations to standard and within promised date
  • Audit quality of department work against standard
  • Track and reduce number of "re-do's"
  • Manage delivery of completed garments against promised date
  • Partner with Sales Management team in identifying product issues
  • Review inventory supplies and re-stock as needed
  • Maintain equipment and orchestrate necessary repairs
  • Write schedules to respect business needs
  • Manage flow of work through department
  • Create Personal Performance Plan, leading by example
  • Build and retain a high performing Alterations team that is capable of delivering the work to meet performance goals
  • Communicate appropriate parameters, standards and prescribed limits for direct reports; helping them to understand how they drive business
  • Establish effective working relationships with direct reports and manage performance
  • Comply with all Health & Safety policies and requirements
  • Ensure compliance with privacy policies, regulations, and cyber security measures.

The ideal candidate:

  • Tailoring / seamstress technical training or its equivalent
  • 2 years experience in similar capacity
  • Previous experience in altering luxury fabrications
  • Can communicate comfortably and clearly in English and/or French

  • Contribution to financial objectives
  • Individual objectives linked to the achievement of department goals
  • Feedback from internal and external clients
