The Manager, Financial Reporting ensures the accuracy and completeness of reported financial position and results, as well as acts as partner within the organization on financial reporting policies and the application thereof.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Manage external financial reporting requirements which involves ensuring that information reported to relevant authorities is accurate and completed within required monthly, quarterly and annual timelines.
  • Prepare and/or review external statutory financial statements, including all note disclosures, for legal entities in accordance with IFRS, as well as the pension plan financial statements.
  • Prepare audit & pension committee materials.
  • Act as a liaison with external audit firm for planning, interim and annual audits; ensure team working papers and support are submitted in a timely manner and manage the effective resolution of financial reporting issues, if identified.
  • Oversee the reporting of monthly financial results and distribution of management pack to parent company, Board members and executive leadership; support enhancements and efficiency projects as necessary.
  • Lead the annual balance sheet and cash flow budgeting and forecasting process; duties include obtaining information from various stakeholders, evaluating for reasonableness, consolidating results, presenting to management and submitting to parent company.
  • Lead the annual impairment analysis when trigger exists, which encompasses preparing the value in use analysis, obtaining management and parent company alignment, as well as liaising with external partners to obtain necessary inputs.
  • Ensure sufficient internal controls relevant to the financial reporting processes are in place, and lead improvement activities.
  • Partner in the analysis of financial results.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of financial master data across all systems.
  • Manage engagements of third-party firms for reporting requirements as required.
  • Monitor for changes in financial reporting, accounting and auditing standards, alert management and quantify potential impact. Ensure all changes are implemented & communicated as required.
  • Manage, support, and review the preparation of corporate tax returns with external preparer.
  • Prepare supplementary reports to assist management in evaluating financial performance.
  • Act as consultant for accounting and reporting matters to ensure business and financial processes are aligned to IFRS.
  • Lead, motivate, and retain a team of high performing employees that is capable of delivering results; Implement succession planning, team building and skill development.
  • Complies with all Health & Safety policies and requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy policies, regulations, and cyber security measures.

The ideal candidate:

  • Post-secondary degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA or equivalent)
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant financial accounting and reporting experience
  • Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of IFRS
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Adaptable, and comfortable with ambiguity and change in a dynamic environment
  • Highly service-oriented with exceptional organization and follow up skills
  • Experience with SAP and Cognos is an asset
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Passionate about fashion and luxury retailing
