What You'll Do

You will be joining CTC's Corporate Tax team that supports and manages all income tax areas. Your focus will be on CTC's retail businesses to ensure that the companies are compliant with income tax laws, while identifying income tax opportunities along with the associated tax risks.

  • Manage income tax provision and quarterly income tax accounting processes, and assist with income tax forecasting and budgeting

  • Manage income tax compliance obligations and ensure tax returns are filed on a timely basis

  • Manage income tax audits by coordinating with auditors, gathering required information, and preparing clear and accurate responses

  • Assist in income tax planning and oversight for foreign operations

  • Stay current and analyze the implications of any income tax changes, published rulings, interpretations and court cases, including Pillar Two

  • Provide expert income tax advice by analyzing business transactions and applying in-depth knowledge of technical tax legislation

  • Collaborate with HR, Payroll, and Accounting teams on various projects or inquiries, providing tax advice and ensuring clear communication of any income tax implications

  • Systematically analyze complex tax issues and data to identify underlying problems; use logical reasoning to develop effective solutions and reconcile differences

  • Provide income tax expertise across all banners and business units, as appropriate

  • Participate in special projects and tax research assignments, as required

What You Bring

  • Accounting designation (CPA)

  • 5+ years of income tax experience, exposure to Retail an asset

  • In-depth understanding of the Income Tax Act and Global Minimum Tax Act.

  • Excellent understanding of tax accounting principles, especially IAS 12.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with auditors and stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to solve problems, propose alternatives to resolve issues, and identify process improvement opportunities

  • Advanced working knowledge of Taxprep and Microsoft Excel

  • Working knowledge of Peoplesoft and Hyperion an asset

  • Completion or enrollment in CICA In-Depth Tax Course
