Reporting to the SVP, People, This position affirms Holt Renfrew's commitment to developing our most valuable asset, our people. The successful candidate will be a key member of the People team and will support the implementation of the Talent Management facet of the 5-year people strategy.

The Manager, Talent will lead projects that embed our company values, promote a diverse and dynamic culture, and support our talent to achieve their personal best. They will be a Talent Management subject matter expert and thought leader that will grow this capability in all areas of the organization.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Support the implementation of the talent management strategy, which includes building content, tools and resources to enable the identification, assessment and active development of internal talent
  • Partner closely with and HR Business partners on the assessment, identification and development of successors, design, launch and implementation of talent programs, including talent review process, succession planning, employee engagement and development planning
  • Partner closely with Learning and Development, Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion COEs on the identification, development and retention of identified successors
  • Design, develop and facilitate programs and courses to support the execution and implementation of the Talent Management strategy
  • Implement and direct talent development programs and processes, including succession planning, talent and role mapping, and development planning
  • Build relationships with internal and external business partners to understand business requirements and priorities and align to talent programs
  • Manage relationships with all vendors to ensure successful delivery on service agreements, along with rigours budget management
  • Work with peers and stakeholders across the People team to identify synergies, leading practices and efficiencies in support of our desired culture and talent strategy
  • Champion change and lead communication in all Talent programs
  • Through a data-driven approach, provide relevant and timely insights related to talent management (high potential development, succession materialization) analyze and draw insights to measure program effectiveness and to develop insights to inform their evolution
  • Ensure compliance with privacy policies, regulations, and cyber security measures

The ideal candidate:

  • Post-secondary degree (preferably in Human Resources and/or Industrial and Organizational Psychology)
  • 5+ years in designing and implementing, scaling and sustaining strategy focused talent programs
  • Proven experience and passion for Key Capability and Skills identification, assessment and design
  • Strong project and change management skills
  • Collaborative team player who can build relationships easily across the organization to move initiatives forward
  • Strong knowledge and experience in talent development, program design, succession planning and talent mapping
  • Instructional design, learning program development and facilitation experience
  • The ability to excel in a high-paced and entrepreneurial retail environment of change and ambiguity
  • Proven success to build and maintain strong working relationships within internal and external partners
  • Well-versed in methodologies for measuring and assessing effectiveness of programs and processes
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to curate written narratives and communications that support internal communications and required materials for senior leaders
  • Strong interpersonal and oral and written communications skills, including the ability to comfortably and effectively convey information speaking in front of groups
